Is it time to jump ship? Recent data and headlines suggest folks are starting to explore and give serious attention to job opportunities with other employers (see Employees Jump Ship as Economy Improves). For the first time in 15 months, voluntary separations have outpaced layoffs and forced terminations. Many of these people are even leaving their current jobs without having anything else lined up. As mentioned in our last newsletter, we've seen a significant uptick in job postings from companies seeking online/digital marketing skills, as well as an increase in resume postings.

2) How are you attracting those employee prospects contemplating a job move? The chances are, you're not the only company vying for a particular skillset. I spoke with one hiring manager last week who was shocked to know there were 10 other employers within a 50-mile radius of him who had job postings on eMarketingSilo for a Social Media Guru. Before my call, he didn't think he needed to advertise as he was confident he had such a strong employment brand that people would be lining up at his door to apply for his job. As we were wrapping up our conversation, he admitted he may be missing out on good applicants who are seeing his competitors' ads but not his company.

There's not a single silver bullet to attracting and landing top talent. One must incorporate a variety of approaches into his or her game plan for sourcing and recruiting BOTH the active and passive job seeker. We'll discuss those in future editions of Silo Snippets.
