The Senior Director of Communications & Marketing Operations is a strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing a modern, high-impact communications and operations function that supports the fast-paced growth of our organization. Reporting to the SVP of Marketing & Communications, this role is a key partner in driving visibility, alignment, and innovation across the marketing organization and the broader company.
This leader will support communications, marketing operations, and performance analytics—ensuring our brand voice is consistent, our tools are modern and scalable, and our team is empowered to deliver exceptional results. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a strong cross-functional collaborator, and a confident communicator who can lead the modernization of our channel mix.
Key Responsibilities
Channel Mix Strategy & Amplification
- Oversee the evolution of our channel strategy by assessing, modernizing, and optimizing how we engage and activate across platforms, working in close partnership with product marketing, social, and events.
- Identify new opportunities to diversify our channel mix, ensuring our messaging is impactful across digital, website, social, partner, and emerging platforms. Track performance by channel and use insights to continuously refine the mix.
- Oversee video and content production across formats, ensuring brand consistency and quality; manage collaboration with internal teams and agency partners; and provide guidance on best practices for self-filming and equipment logistics.
- Collaborate with HR and other business partners to support the amplification of our brand, mission, and value proposition across channels.
Marketing Operations & Technology Innovation
- Lead the evaluation, evolution, and optimization of the marketing tech stack to support social, events, and product marketing—ensuring tools are scalable, integrated, and aligned with business needs.
- Manage contract negotiations and vendor/partner relationships, including those related to the marketing tech stack, creative services partners, and other vendors.
- Act as the primary liaison to IT and Go-to-Market teams for Salesforce and other technology-related marketing tools and platforms.
- Oversee the execution of promotional item programs, including product selection, inventory management, and quality control. Manage vendor relationships, budgets, and the internal ordering platform—ensuring efficient processes and a positive experience for internal teams.
- Drive operational excellence through process improvement, vendor management, and cross-functional coordination.
Performance Analytics
- Create and continuously improve a system for measuring marketing performance, analyzing data, and generating actionable insights, working closely with product marketing.
- Define and track KPIs across campaigns, channels, and programs to inform decision-making and demonstrate impact.
Website Management & SEO
- Oversee the company website as a key communications and marketing asset—manage content updates, ensure timely and accurate publishing, coordinate with internal stakeholders, and lead the relationship with the external website vendor to support development, performance, compliance, UX, and brand consistency.
- Oversee SEO strategy and execution to improve discoverability and content performance.
Internal Communications Support
- Collaborate with HR, executive leadership, and business partners on supporting internal communication activities.
- Manage and optimize the corporate intranet, working with internal business partners.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Be a trusted partner to the SVP of Marketing & Communications, supporting strategic initiatives and team-wide alignment.
- Work closely with social, events, and product marketing teams to ensure communications and operations are enabling their success.
- Manage and mentor the Manager of Communications & Operations, providing strategic guidance across social media content and publishing, communications planning and execution, and cross-functional collaboration with HR on recruiting and talent initiatives. Foster professional growth while ensuring alignment with broader marketing and organizational goals.
- Manage budget planning and oversight for communications and operations functions.
Qualification Requirements
- Education: BA/BS in Communications, Marketing, or related field. MBA or master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in communications, marketing operations, or related roles, with at least three years in a senior leadership capacity in a healthcare or workers' compensation setting.
- Proven ability to lead strategic communications with a strong understanding of integrated communications and a modern approach to channel mix strategy.
- Strong understanding of marketing technology platforms (e.g., Pardot, WordPress, Cvent).
- Experience managing performance dashboards and SEO strategy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly collaborative, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Experience in shared services / matrix organization as well as with a rapidly evolving and complex entrepreneurial type organization.
- Strong ability to educate, guide and influence executive stakeholders and business partners in strategic marketing programs to position the brand, build awareness, and generate demand.
- Takes the initiative in identifying project needs and proposing and implementing solutions.
- Excellent analytical and project management skills ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Technical Skills
- Deep knowledge and experience in B2B marketing, including knowledge and understanding of distribution channels, branding, digital marketing, database marketing, media placement, marketing attribution analysis, and budgeting.
- Expertise in leveraging AI-powered marketing tools and strategies to enhance campaign performance, personalization, and operational efficiency.
- High level of comfort with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with a variety of platforms and workflows—including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft CoPilot, SharePoint, Salesforce, HubSpot, WordPress, Google Analytics, Brandwatch, Bananatag and tools related to agency collaboration, vendor management, video production, and martech stack operations. Some design familiarity (e.g., InDesign) is not required, but a plus.
