Description

Emulate is seeing tremendous expansion of organ-on-a-chip technology across disease research, drug discovery and drug development. Our technology enables cell biologists to recapitulate the complexity of human biology, delivering model systems that go beyond the capability of established in vitro cell culture methods to advance the next generation of targeted therapies and interventions. We are embarking on an exciting and ambitious plan to build, standardize and expand our offering of organ models and applications to serve our expanding customer base. We are seeking a principal level product manager to help build and execute this vision. This is a highly visible role in the organization, working with our industry leading biomechanical engineering capability to continue to evolve the hardware, consumables and software elements of the Human Emulation platform.

Key Tasks:

Successful Product Managers come from a wide range of backgrounds such as sales, marketing, research, product development, or technical support. No matter the background, this job will involve the following:

  • Create and update roadmaps for Emulate's Platform Products (instruments, software, consumables, and companion products)
  • Successfully specify, develop, scale, and launch platform products in close collaboration with engineering, quality, manufacturing, design, sales, and marketing
  • Bridge the business and technical worlds by breaking down complex technical information into clear decision paths
  • Championing new product proposals and chaperoning project commercialization and go-to-market
  • Lead cross-functional teams through the product development process and champion design controls and best practices in documentation
  • Develop forecasts for products both in-market and under development; provide financial/market justification for new product development
  • Proactively engage with customers, sales, and field support to collect voice of customer and prioritize product features
  • Define technical requirements alongside engineering and design
  • Facilitate core team meetings and phase gate reviews
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales and field support to craft servicing, pricing, and training strategies
  • Lead beta programs and other user testing activities (i.e., usability and validation testing)
  • Make high impact decisions alongside leadership by leveraging market data, user needs, company strategy and knowledge of resource limitations
  • Partner with Marketing to develop and deliver marketing content in a variety of forms (written, recorded, live presentation) for deployment in a number of digital marketing communication channels (web experience, e-mail, social and third party)
  • Partner with our field sales and support teams to define aspects of commercialization plans, such as sales training activities and field competency for successful hand-off and support of field teams
  • Market research and sensing to support strategic business decisions to evolve platform features for the pharma, biopharma and the emerging cell therapy end markets

About Emulate, Inc.

Emulate, Inc. is a privately held company that creates advanced in vitro models for understanding how diseases, medicines, chemicals, and foods affect human health. Our lab-ready Human Emulation System® includes three components: Zoë® Culture Module, Organ-Chips, and analytical software applications. The platform provides a window into the inner workings of human biology and disease—offering researchers a new technology designed to predict human response with greater precision and detail than conventional cell culture or animal-based experimental testing.

Research conducted using our Organ-Chips has been published in high-impact scientific journals, including Science. In addition, Organ-Chips have been acquired by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York for their permanent collection and have also been awarded Product Design of the Year 2015 by London’s Design Museum.

Requirements

Desired Skills:

  • BS in life sciences or engineering, with 7+ years of product management, product development or commercialization experience in the life science instrumentation or cell biology market. PhD or MBA a plus.
  • Experience with formal product development processes, with a track record of applying rigor to drive to commercial success.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug discovery biology workflow from discovery to pre-clinical development and a track record of delivering product solutions to the pharma or biopharma customer
  • Experience marketing to life science researchers and drug discovery biologists
  • Demonstrated effectiveness working in cross functional teams, both local and remote, with demonstrated ability communicating product strategy, driving stakeholders to shared vision and goals
  • Solid analytical reasoning, and the ability to make complex decisions at the interface between business and science
  • Excellent communication ability in written, verbal, and in live presentation settings
