OVERVIEW:

The Content Marketing Manager is responsible for creating, curating and optimizing content (written, photo, video, graphical) about Raleigh, N.C., as a destination or about the work of GRCVB, to the benefit of all Bureau departments and the Bureau’s mission, with an emphasis placed on content for the meetings/conventions and sporting events markets. Responsibilities also include utilizing GRCVB’s technologies, software and hardware to implement, post and/or publish and keep organized internally the content that is developed and being maintained (i.e., database marketing/Internet marketing duties).

EXPECTATIONS:

The Content Marketing Manager works in concert with other Marketing team members and will closely align with the Assistant Director and Director of Marketing and Communications on all project management tactics and timelines, and will represent the Bureau and the destination itself in the most positive and professional manner (adhering to the Bureau’s social media policy and Employee Handbook at all times).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Content Marketing

  • With direction from the Assistant Director and Director of Marketing and Communications, Senior Content Marketing Manager and Director of Information, Security and Digital Innovation, create compelling group and leisure tourism content to increase website traffic and engagement and social media engagement, including copy (webpage copy, blog posts, social media post copy and more), photography and video (mostly for social media platforms).
  • Build the Bureau’s business-to-business (B2B) E-publications (such as Meetings Watch and Sports Watch) and create occasional B2B print publications (printed in-house) by continuously researching, testing and implementing new assets, content and tactics.
  • With direction from the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications, implement portions of the Bureau’s social media marketing strategy across multiple departments (mainly Marketing and Communications, Sales and Destination Services) by continuously researching, developing and testing new posts/tactics.
  • Create content in support of B2B and leisure tourism advertising strategies (e.g., paid advertorials in digital and print publications).
  • Work closely with the Creative Director and Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications to ensure all content is on-brand, supports GRCVB Business Plan goals and objectives and is of the highest quality. Communicate and strengthen the Raleigh, N.C., destination brand.
  • Maintain a curious outlook related to the latest news and developments in the Raleigh area and trends in social media communication.
  • Be knowledgeable about copyright law as it relates to written, photographic and video content.

B2B-Specific Marketing

  • Serve as a “one-stop shop” (internal account executive) for the three B2B GRCVB departments, executing many solutions to their marketing needs from start to finish, whether using the Bureau’s marketing automation platform (Act-On), including its interface with the Customer Relationship Management database, the Bureau’s Content Management System (CMS) or other Bureau software such as Microsoft Office or Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Serve as a marketing and communications expert/liaison for the three B2B GRCVB departments in outreach/relations with meeting event or sports event clients, continuing implementation of the Bureau’s “The Journey” project, which further optimizes work with event planners from start to finish (from prospecting to remarketing/reselling). (Duty includes attending regularly scheduled or special internal meetings with the three departments and interfacing back with the Marketing and Communications Department on updates/upcoming resource needs for industry activations/clients/arriving groups.)
  • Serve as the Bureau’s point of contact for Destination Services and Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance clients (event planners) regarding digital marketing direction and consultation on best visitRaleigh.com and Bureau social media content for them to share for event attendance promotion (aiding in execution of “The Journey” project).

Database Marketing/Internet Marketing/Teamwork

  • As often as needed, review and update existing website pages and marketing materials to keep content accurate and fresh. Coordinate any related database marketing tactics.
  • Provide research/measurement support for email campaigns, Internet promotions and social media marketing, including tracking and reporting significant analytics of campaigns, promotions and posts, with goals toward continuous improvement.
  • Edit, proofread and provide editorial support on a variety of GRCVB projects while working closely with outside vendors, other marketing or communications staff and executive leadership.
  • Assist the Marketing and Communications Department and other departments with special assignments and projects as needed.


Requirements

JOB-RELATED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent written communication/promotional writing/verbal communication skills, impeccable spelling/grammar and proofreading ability
  • Some photography and videography skills required
  • Professional portfolio demonstrating three years of content development experience (e.g., blogging)
  • Bachelor’s degree (required) in communications, English/literature, multimedia/new media, marketing or tourism (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Raleigh/Wake County and/or CVB industry
  • Solid proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Excellent computer/typing skills
  • Experience with data asset management systems and project management systems expected
